Art Climb 12! at Francisco Studios, Fourth Floor Studios

Thumbnail
May 1, 2010 from 6pm to 10pm
ON Saturday, May 1st, from 6pm to 10pm we are having our Annual Art Climb event. Each year Andy organizes this open studio event where we exhibit the work of at least a dozen local artists, sample Andy's home brew, snacks courtesy of Fiesta Mart, and have live music/ a DJ. We enjoy the chance to show off our work to the public, meet some cool new people, and just have a great time! If you are in the area, come by on Saturday, and bring friends! Watch this space for news on upcoming art events…See More

Welcome to our website!

The Artists on the Fourth Floor at 2300 McKinney welcome you to our pages. Here you can view images of our work, contact us, and keep up with our latest news and art events. We enjoy using these studios to explore our art and interact with Houston's arts community. We are proud of this and would like to to share our passion for art with as many people as we can.

Our current resident Artists include:
J.B. Carrillo, Andrew Chapa, Joseph Cohen, Johnathan Felton, Thomas Glass, Marshall Hinman, Andy Howell, Elisabeth Jackson, Daniel Kane, Char Koho, Henry Wilson, and new arrivals!

Artists have been using warehouses for studio work space, galleries, theaters, rehearsal studios, and living quarters in East Downtown and other local neighborhoods for many years. East downtown was traditionally an industrial area between the Port of Houston ship channel and the Downtown business district. The area is home to factories, warehouses, and freight trains.

The area, like much of Houston, is multicultural and ethnically diverse. We encourage visitors to explore the many features of our neighborhood, such as shops, restaurants, religious centers, and parks, that highlight our diversity. Over the years some businesses and residents left. Artists moved in. Recently in and near Downtown new sports stadiums, concert venues, and apartments have been added.

We love the flavor of this neighborhood! We are right in the middle of the action with our fingers on the pulse of the city. Houston is constantly growing, changing, and re-inventing itself. It's only getting better. Local artists have been growing and changing with it- and make a valuable contribution to the city's dynamic cultural landscape. So we welcome our visitors, and look forward to sharing our art with you!

Launch!

I'm launching a site for our Studios here on the fourth floor! Others are welcomed and encouraged to join, but this is intended primarily as a place online for our resident artists to promote art, events, share ideas, and discuss happenings at our studios. Our studios have been around for nearly 30 years. Some of our current artists have had spaces here for anywhere from 5 to 15 years. We welcome the new arrivals and hope they may utilize their studios for as long as we have. (Hmm, is that a… Continue
